The Great Seal was commissioned by the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The seal is displayed prominently at their annual concert and will grace the wall of their theatre for the remainder of the year. It was sculpted in clay, wood, resin, latex and plastic. It is cast in reinforced resin with stainless steel.
