This beautiful moving sculpture was designed by Tony walton for the new ABT production
of The Sleeping Beauty.
It was sculpted in Styrofoam, plaster and wood, then vacuum formed in a strong plastic. The automation and armature were
designed and fabricated by Hyde Power Systems.
Costume Armour assembled the vac-form pieces and installed them on the provided armature.
The wing/sail is lightweight and removable.
Our artists created a pearlescent paint finish with gold highlights to finsih the job. The gryphon will be
beautifuly choreographed to carry two dancers both with and without the wing/sail.
